Download PDFForm MVL1 (ALV) — when to use it
If your renewal notice did not arrive in the post — or you've moved and never received one at the new address — you can still renew your licence by completing Form MVL1 by hand and bringing it to a participating post office or DLTC.
You'll need your current disc (or the registration certificate RC1) so the clerk has the registration number and vehicle particulars. Bring your ID and proof of residence as usual.
Form NCO — change of ownership
When a vehicle is sold, both the seller and the buyer have a role to play. The seller submits an NCO within 21 days of the sale; the buyer must register the vehicle in their name within 21 days of taking possession. Failure to do so can leave the seller liable for fines and licence fees that accrue against the vehicle after the sale.
Form NCP — change of address or details
By law, you must notify the licensing authority of any change of address or personal details within 21 days. Use Form NCP and submit at any DLTC or post office with proof of the new address.
