What is Form RLV?

Form RLV — Application for Registration and Licensing of a Motor Vehicle — is the official South African form used to register a motor vehicle in your name and licence it in one step. It records you as the legal title holder and/or owner of the vehicle on the eNaTIS system.

When do you use Form RLV?

You've bought a used vehicle and need to register it in your name (the seller separately lodges Form NCO)
You're registering a newly built or imported vehicle
Ownership has been transferred to you (inheritance, company transfer, etc.)

If the vehicle is already registered to you and you simply need to renew the disc, you don't need Form RLV — use Form ALV (MVL1) or just renew on WhatsApp.

How to complete and submit Form RLV

Download and print the form above.
Fill in your details as title holder and owner — ID number, full name, and addresses.
Fill in the vehicle particulars — registration number, VIN/chassis, engine number, make, model and tare — from the RC1 or the seller's documents.
Sign and date the form in black or blue pen.
Submit at a DLTC / registering authority with your supporting documents and pay the registration and licence fees.
